2009 OFW Team 13

Once again women in our community exceeded expectations when the call went out for the annual OFW team at Women For Habitat.  This year's OFW team build was on June 13, 2009.

Our thanks to everyone who responded to the call for volunteers.  Women helping women helps make our community special.

To follow the progress on building this home and other Habitat activities visit Habitat for Humanity of Louisville's online community.
Mary Abbott, Women For Habitat volunteer coordinator spoke to the teams.
This was a "raise the roof" build. Volunteers built and lifted the trusses into place.
Most of the homes built by Habitat are purchased by single mothers.
Most of the OFW team paused to take a photo together.

(Above) From left to right:  Irene, Jennifer, Sally, Rebecca, Tami, Tina, Betty and Deb*. Tami and Betty came as a "mother/daughter" team, as did Susan and Kyla Selby who are not pictured.  Special thanks to Deb* who wanted to spend her birthday doing something special and chose OFW's Team 13.

Below, teams of volunteers and the Rollins family listen to safety instructions before beginning the build.

Habitat volunteers and the Georgeann Rollins family who are purchasing the home were introduced to the "raise the roof" workers.

The Women For Habitat workers for this build, like Tami, needed to work from ladders.

New OFW interns, Jennifer and Rebecca, volunteered their Saturday to join the build.

Hard hats were everywhere on the build site.
