Recreation / Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement

The Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement (MHHM) builds on social marketing and public and private partnerships to “create a community-wide culture that encourages and supports healthy lifestyles by promoting increased physical activity, optimal nutrition, healthy public policy, and access to resources.” Led by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMDPHW), MHHM unites diverse community partners to coordinate programs and activities that further social change.

Metro Parks:

Golf Leagues - Metro Parks golf courses feature organized clubs and leagues for women. Membership in these clubs provides a variety of fun and exciting programs, along with USGA handicaps.

Women’s Weight Training and Ladies Open Gym – Metro Parks operates 17 Community Centers. Beechmont offers Women’s Weight Training and Shawnee provides a Ladies Open Gym night.

Activities for Girls - Metro Parks Community Centers offer a variety of programs and activities for Girls – Teen Clubs, Basketball teams, and Girls Scouts.



Other:

Tennis LeaguesLouisville Tennis Center offers Women’s Singles and Doubles Leagues with the flexibility to join at any point in the session. Balls and court time are provided with league fees.

iMoves - Music-driven movement program for women geared to the non-exerciser. iMoves is for women with little mobility or motivation to exercise but who realize the benefits of activity.
