Mayor’s Youth Cabinet is a youth leadership group of local high school students. They serve are advisors to the Mayor and other government officials on issues related to young people. We want to ensure that Louisville Metro Government is aware of and responsive to important issues affecting our youth.

The Cabinet meets monthly to provide opportunities to come together to learn, share and assist in the planning of various programs and activities. Youth Cabinet members gain knowledge in public policy, youth issues and the workings of City Government; helping to address issues in the areas of education, human services, preparation for the workforce, recreation, public safety and diversity.

YEF Institute Launches Youth Only Website
The new Youth as City Leaders Network helps young people involved in local government connect with other youth from across the country to share ideas on how to improve their communities. Teens involved in youth councils, service projects, and other city-led initiatives will find this interactive website a fun and helpful learning tool. The site includes online discussion forums, a listserv, blogs by youth leaders, and a list of upcoming events. Visit the website.

National and Global Youth Service Day 2008
The National and Global Youth Service Day 2008 is April 25-27. Sponsored by Youth Service America, the event is the largest service event in the world, involving millions of youth participants. Young people will design and lead service-learning projects in areas ranging from literacy and the environment, to healthcare, hunger, and help for the elderly. Grants are available.
