MetroServ grants are small, up to $2,000, classroom-based community service learning grants. It is intended that students, working with their teachers, will identify a community problem, develop a solution and create a project to solve the problem. The review panel members look for a strong curriculum connection to be sure that these projects accomplish the dual goals of service and learning. The application forms for MetroServ grants are usually available in late August with a late September proposal deadline.

Mayor’s Youth Cabinet Youth Outreach Grants provide funding up to $1,000 for a community-based youth council and/or advisory group to plan, design, and implement a volunteer service learning or other project. Grants must be written by young people for young people. The goal is to involve youth in decision-making roles within local youth agencies and raise community awareness of the outstanding contributions by young people. These grants are reviewed, selected, and awarded solely by the Mayor’s Youth Cabinet. This program also provides an opportunity to bring local youth groups together to plan and implement community-wide programs for youth.
