About Planning & Design Services
The Louisville Metro Department of Planning and Design Services (PDS), part of the Department of Codes and Regulations, is responsible for administering the policies, programs and regulations that guide the city’s development. Staff review development plans; oversee design overlays and historic preservation programs; and advise the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment and the Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission on decisions affecting the built environment. Planning & Design Services is also responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance with the Land Development Code and Cornerstone 2020, the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
