About Public Works & Assets

Louisville Metro Public Works and Assets continues to maintain public streets and public rights-of-way, administers road construction projects, and provides professional engineering and planning services. While bringing other divisions such as; Fleet Services, Facilities Management, Project Management, Property and Leasing and Solid Waste Management Services, into the fold of the new division title.

We continue to oversee more than 3000 miles of roadway and maintain over 750 traffic signals throughout Metro Louisville. 

Responsibilities of this newly merged division include;  
  • Road construction and maintenance
  • Management of Metro Government capital building construction/renovation projects
  • Transportation Planning
  • Handling of Metro Government owned properties for sale or lease.

  • Maintaining Metro Government vehicles
  • Maintaining Metro Government Facilities
  • Managing Solid Waste removal and recycling

County Engineer
serves the Louisville Jefferson County Metro community in oversight of capital road construction, traffic operations and GIS technology. The County Engineer also serves as a representative on the Planning Commission.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Serves Louisville Jefferson County Metro  community by overseeing the pickup and removal of Solid Waste and other related programs such as recycling.
