MISCELLANEOUS PERMITS FOR WORK IN PUBLIC R-O-W

  • Miscellaneous permits are written for temporary work to be performed on/in the public right-of-way
  • The cost of permits are $25.00 per week, degradation is $.50 per square foot, excavation is $100.00.. Exact cash, check or money order are accepted for payment of permit.
  • If a permit is for portable tables & chairs, sandwich board or horse drawn carriage, the cost is $100.00 per year.
  • If a request is made for the placement of portable tables and chairs, the property is inspected, if approved, the inspector will notify the Permit Desk, and the Permittee will need to supply the Permit Desk with a copy of their Certificate of Commercial Liability Insurance with the payment of $100.00. At that time, the permit will be issued. The Permittee MUST allow 48” for pedestrian passage for ADA requirements.
  • If permit is for a lane block or sidewalk block a “maintenance of traffic plan” must accompany request for permit.
  • Some requests may have to be reviewed due to location, type of permit, length of request, etc. Some restrictions may apply
  • Permits for sidewalk repairs must be performed per “specifications”
  • If location is on a strategic street that has peak hour restrictions, restrictions MUST be obeyed.
  • If a permit is for a location where there is a TARC route, TARC must be notified and contractor must be sensitive to TARC busses/trolleys
  • Permit MUST be obtained prior to drop-off of a dumpster or POD. Permit MUST be displayed on a window or door that faces the street for visual inspection.
  • Permits have to be obtained at 444 South 5th Street, 2nd floor. Permits MUST be on jobsite AT ALL TIMES.
