Louisville Launches Pothole Blitz
Mayor Greg Fischer today helped launch this year’s Pothole Blitz, an annual event aimed at ridding the city’s streets of the many potholes left by the repeated freeze-thaw cycles of winter.
Following a winter that saw a seemingly unprecedented frequency of snow the number of potholes left behind is also running well ahead of recent years. Metro Public Works patched 8,726 potholes from the start of the snow season on November 1, 2013 and the end of February 2014. In the same period a year ago 7,162 potholes were patched.
Ice Covered Tree Branches Best Left Alone
In the wake of this week’s storm that left many tree branches coated with ice, Louisville Metro Arborist Mark White said residents should resist the urge to try to remove the ice. He urged instead, that we let nature take its course.
