Bridge Painting to Begin on Interstate 264

The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) in both directions between US 31E (Bardstown Road) and US 42 (Brownsboro Road), mile points 15.6 and 22.1. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 9th to perform painting of the steel girders on six bridges located within this section of interstate.

Shoulder closures will be in place 24 hours a day during this project. Lane closures are possible on I-264 in the evenings from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the work zones.

Work will begin on Monday, August 9th at the US 42 bridge over I-264. The contractor plans to work west toward US 31E on painting these structures.

Panther Industrial Painting LLC was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $3.29 million. The work is being funding through federal interstate maintenance funds and is scheduled for completion by November 15, 2010.
