Restoration work at former Museum Plaza site nearly complete
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (December 2, 2011) – Seventh Street, north of Main Street, will open to traffic today , Friday, December 2, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. as restoration work at the site of the former Museum Plaza project nears completion. Museum Plaza developers coordinated with Metro Public Works officials on the plan to restore the site of the planned skyscraper and the surrounding roadway, which included restoring changes made to 7th Street as well as grading and clearing two construction sites. The work was funded by Museum Plaza developers. Work will continue on Washington Street’s sidewalks and the Science Center’s parking lot. Weather-permitting, work should be complete within the next few weeks. Museum Plaza developers broke ground on the 61-story skyscraper in October 2007. The project was cancelled in August due to a lack of funding.
