Reminder: New Collection Routes Start Monday, Jan. 9
Friday January 6, 2012
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 6, 2012) – A reminder to citizens in the Urban Services District (old city limits) that new 2012 garbage and recycling/yard waste collection routes begin Monday, Jan. 9.
In early December, all residents in the Urban Services District were sent a mailer detailing their scheduled garbage and recycling/yard waste collection days for 2012. More than 77,550 households and small business in the Urban Services District will be affected, with a change to one or both of their collection days.
Residents will need to place their trash, recycling and yard waste at their normal collection site on the specific days of the week listed on the mailer.
Citizens can also call MetroCall 311 or visit www.louisvilleky.gov and enter their address in the QuickFind tool, located in the upper left-hand corner of the homepage, to confirm their scheduled collection days.
Residents who did not have garbage or recycling collection Monday, Jan. 2nd following the New Year’s Day holiday are asked to place their trash, recycling and yard waste at their normal collection site on their scheduled 2012 collection day. (Some citizens with a 2011 Monday collection day may have been assigned a new collection day with the 2012 collection routes.)
A reminder there will also be no collections on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 because of the observance of Martin Luther King Day. Pickup for the rest of the week, Tues.-Fri., will be on the normal collection day. Those who do not receive Monday collection will have service resume on Monday, Jan. 23rd.
Metro Public Works officials eliminated the day delay service following only the New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Day holidays in May during the city’s budget hearings. It will save an estimated $50,000 in overtime spending.
