Arborist Department

Welcome to the Arborist Department!

Here you will find information about the various plants and trees within the right-of-way of the Metro Louisville area.

The Arborist Department oversees:
  • maintaining the health of the overhead canopy,
  • re-planting trees within the right-of-way,
  • providing education to property owners about tree care and removal,
  • providing further educational opportunities through programs such as Tree City USA and Arbor Day.

For all other inquiries, please contact the Arborist Department.

Plant of the Month

Each month the Arborist Department will highlight a different, in-season, plant or tree. Pictures will be displayed on the right of the page.

This month features the Gingko Biloba.

The Gingko is a favorite for its bright yellow fall color that seem to all fall at one time. When the leaves fall it looks like rain drops of fallen leaves.
