Pat Johnson, PE Engineering Supervisor Senior Traffic Engineer for traffic signals
Administration/Signal Operations:
- Questions and/or request for pavement markings.
- Open Records i.e. Traffic signal timing, traffic data.
- Questions concerning Traffic
engineering/operations.
- Traffic & pedestrian signal operations.
- Traffic engineering support.
Additional Information: Request for traffic signals and/or stop signs require a traffic study. This may include traffic counts. They always require a site visit and a review of the accident history. If the sign is non-regulatory, Signs and Marking may make the call. They also determine if additional speed limit signs are required.
Request to raise or lower the speed limit requires engineering studies and should be referred to Traffic Operations.
Open Records request requires a review of our files. By law we have 3 days to respond. If it will take longer, we generally call the person and let them know. That is considered a response. Any citizen may make a Open Records request on just about anything. The most common are those involving a traffic accident, signal timing, maintenance etc., or traffic tickets i.e. any official parking restrictions, speed limit or when speed limit changed. We do get request for accident reports but since we are not the custodian for those records, we have to refer to Metro Police Department.
