How do you find your junk set out dates?
It's the number one question we receive! There are 4 things you need to know:
- Louisville Metro Solid Waste picks up your junk 2 times a year if you live in the old City of Louisville or the Urban Services District (see map). Residents in this area pay a little more in taxes for this service than residents in surburban areas or incorporated cities.
- If you live in this area, click here to use our MapIt tool and enter your address. You will see your junk pick up dates and more in the left column.
- Junk and bulk waste collection is provided in several different ways in Louisville Metro depending on where you live.
- If you live outside the urban services district, click here.

Year-Round Junk Disposal
Regardless of where you live in Louisville Metro, you can always take up to three household junk items, at no charge, to the Louisville Metro Waste Reduction Center located at 636 Meriwether Avenue in south central Louisville (locate on a map).
Household junk items, tree limbs, and stumps up to 3 feet in diameter, tires, metal waste, household construction debris, furniture and appliances will be accepted. If you have more than three items, a fee will be charged according to the size of the vehicle and volume of junk. Only self-dumping vehicles or vehicles ability to utilize equipment to quickly "pull-off" loads will be allowed to dump larger loads at the Waste Reduction Center.
Larger loads, in any vehicle, can be dropped off at Waste Management's Recycling and Disposal Facility at 2673 Outer Loop. Waste Management will charge the same fees as SWMS.
