Reminder: Junk Pickup Completed in Urban Services District for 2009
Friday October 9, 2009
Metro Solid Waste Management has now completed all regular junk pickup for this calendar year in Louisville’s Urban Services District (former city of Louisville boundaries).
Citizens who have set out junk for pickup will receive a letter advising them that the next scheduled round of pickups will not begin until January 2010. The letter will also list other options, such as utilizing the Waste Reduction Center or the upcoming free junk drop-off day at the Waste Management landfill on Oct. 25. Citizens will be advised to remove their junk from the curbside or alley.
As part of the effort to balance the city’s budget, Mayor Abramson earlier this year reduced the number of junk pickups this fiscal year from four to two.
Junk pickup in the Urban Services District will resume in January, 2010. A new schedule for pickups will be released in mid-December and will be available at MetroCall 311 and on the city’s website, www.LouisvilleKy.gov.
Metro Solid Waste Management continues to coordinate flood debris pickup with Metro United Way. Flooded homes that have been cleaned by volunteers will be added to the Public Works list for curbside pickup.
