Street Sweeping Crews Remind Citizens to Obey No Parking Signs

Friday May 31, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 31, 2013) – Metro Public Works’ Street Sweeping Unit reminds citizens to obey the “No Parking Signs” posted the day before crews come through the area. No parking hours are from 7am-5pm on the day of cleaning.

Metro Solid Waste Management Enforcement Officers will now cite violators with a ticket and assist in enforcing the no parking regulations daily. PARC will also continue to issue citations and/or tow vehicles in areas designated for street cleaning.

“We are keeping streets clean by removing litter and debris but we are also preventing gutters and sewers from becoming clogged,” Public Works Director Vanessa Burns said. “We need citizens to be responsible and move their vehicles so our crews can do the best job possible.”

When neighborhood streets are cleaned all east/west streets are cleaned at the same time or all north/south streets are cleaned at the same time. On street cleaning day, residents should park on a street which has a direction of travel different from the one posted for cleaning.

The Street Sweeping Unit operates from March- November (work may extend past November, weather-permitting), working through areas of the Urban Services District divided into twelve residential areas.
