Public Works to Sell Compost Bins and Rain Barrels

Changes to Yardwaste Collection
In May 2014, the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Waste Management District adopted a yard waste container regulation (51.507R) clarifying collection procedures. Residents who utilize yard waste collection services must use one of the following containers: reusable bin, paper yard waste bag, or compostable plastic bag meeting ASTM D6400 standards.

City Launches Automatic Reminders of Junk Pickup Dates
Mayor Greg Fischer today announced that residents of the Urban Services District of Louisville (the pre-merger City of Louisville boundaries) can sign up to receive automatic advance reminders via text or email of when it is time to set out bulk waste for junk pickup collection. Junk pickup service provided by the Solid Waste Management Division of Metro Public Works collects bulk waste items like tires, appliances and tree stumps set out by residents at their regular curbside trash collection points.
