Overview

 

The Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Waste Management District, which is under the authority of KRS 109.011-310, includes in its jurisdiction all territory within the borders of Jefferson County. The District is managed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor and staffed by the Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management Department.

The Waste Management District is the authority for supervising and enforcing the provisions of L.M.C.O. Chapter 51 and their responsibilities include:

· Supervising the execution of all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to solid waste management.

· Investigating all violations and grievances reported.

· Issuing orders for corrections of violations of this ordinance.

· Instituting necessary proceedings to prosecute violations of this ordinance.

· Establishing procedures and enforcing all regulations concerning matters pertaining to licensing and fees.

The regular meeting of the Board is the second Tuesday of even numbered months at 5:30 pm at MSD, which is located at 700 W. Liberty, Louisville, KY 40202.

The Advisory Committee has a meeting every 3rd Wednesday of each month. The meeting is held at 5:30 pm in the SWMS building’s conference room, located at 600 Meriwether Avenue, Louisville, KY 40217.
