Business Office Paper Recycling

BUSINESS OFFICE PAPER & SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING

Businesses within the downtown area are eligible for the Business Office Paper & Single Stream Recycling program. This program provides businesses and government agencies with the opportunity to participate in single stream recycling.

There is no charge for pickup services in the program. It is based on a once-per-week collection and specially marked 95-gallon carts can be purchased. To find out more information or eligibility, please contact MetroCall at 311 or call 574-5000.

Why recycle at work?
With every piece of paper that is recycled, it helps preserve our forests, clean our air and save landfill space.  In addition, revenues from the program are forwarded to Brightside and earmarked to plant trees in the Louisville Metro area.

In June of 2003, Metro Solid Waste Management eliminated a contractual arrangement and began collection using current personnel and equipment.  Since that time, approximately 2,000 tons of paper has been collected, recycled and has produced over $86,000 in revenues.

What to recycle?
A simple guideline is to recycle food and beverage containers and "Anything That Tears".  The great thing about our Single Stream program is that all of the acceptable items can be thrown in the same container!
