Smart Moves for Pedestrians…
Look in all directions before crossing any street.
Don’t dart across the street trying to “beat” oncoming traffic.
Use sidewalks if they are available |
Where no sidewalks are provided, it’s usually safer to walk facing the road traffic. |
Be visible. Dress in light colors and wear reflective clothing; carry a flashlight.
Obey all traffic signals. Many pedestrians are hurt trying to cross streets against traffic signals |
Don’t be distracted. Cell phone and IPods can prevent you from hearing or paying attention to traffic and traffic signals.
At the bus stop…wait for the bus to pull away before crossing the street. |
