Sustainability Summit

More than 170 people attended the city’s first Sustainability Summit, co-hosted by the Office of Sustainability, the Louisville Sustainability Council and the Louisville Zoo.

Sustainability Summit Outcomes – January 2014

Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability co-hosted the city’s first Sustainability Summit with the Louisville Sustainability Council and the Louisville Zoo on January 17 and 18, 2014. An estimated 175 people attended both the Friday evening reception and the Saturday Action Team work session.

Following the morning presentations, attendees participated in one of five Action Team work groups: Transportation, Green Building and Green Infrastructure, Green Economy, Tree Canopy and Urban Heat Island and Community Engagement. Participants were led by a facilitator to brainstorm initiatives, identify assets, and begin developing strategies and programs to address the challenges inherent to each topic and to contribute to achieving the goals in Sustain Louisville. Following the work sessions, each team gave a 7 – 10 minute presentation to Mayor Fischer, members of his staff, and the Summit attendees.

The Friday reception was sponsored by the Center for Interfaith Relations. Arctic Action Teams and MyActions sponsored the Sustainability Summit.
