City’s Louisville Mobile App Now Includes TARC’s Route Finding

Thursday December 8, 2011

Location-based app finds closest TARC bus

Louisville Metro Government has integrated Transit Authority of River City’s (TARC) new Google Transit route-finding tool into the popular Louisville Mobile app for the iPhone, iPad and Android. This new tool now provides smart phone users quick access to TARC’s routes.

“There is now no reason to wonder when the next city bus will round the corner,” said Louisville Metro’s Chief Information Officer, Beth Niblock. “TARC has changed how the public gets its information when looking for bus schedules, and we are happy to be able to share that information with users of the Louisville Mobile app.”

The Louisville Mobile app now includes a Plan Your Bus Route icon that provides citizens with one-click access to Google’s map-data based on their current location.

In addition to being able to find the nearest bus to where a user is standing, the Plan Your Bus Route application also is integrated into the popular Restaurant Inspections and Park Finder applications, giving users directions and routes whether driving, on TARC, walking or biking, based on their location.
