Alternative Placement Services (APS)

APS/Phoenix House is a 24-hour non-secure coed facility housing 12 pre-dispositioned youth ages 12-17.

Youth are court ordered to APS for alleged status and minor misdemeanor offenses who are not eligible for secure detention, not committed or probated to the state, or the parent/legal guardian could not be contacted for release.

APS provides a safe, stable environment which includes access to education, nutrition and medical care.

While at APS youth:

  • Are oriented and given a Resident Handbook detailing the program operations, expectations, rules and consequences, and grievance procedure.
  • Given a complete physical exam within 48 hours of admittance by a medical doctor.
  • Meet with the social worker and/or supervisor within 24 hours of admittance to review and explain their court order, discuss pertinent information, ascertain current and future living situations, get scheduled for school attendance at their home school or into an in-house educational program.
  • Will participate in life skills and behavior management programs designed to assist them in transition back into their homes and communities.

Visitation with Parent/Legal Guardian Only
Mondays - 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursdays - 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Phone Calls
Tuesday and Saturday evenings to parent/legal guardian only. Calls to social workers and attorneys can be made anytime upon request.
