Mayor Unveils '05 Louisville Metro ‘Tech Map’

Friday December 3, 2004

Mayor Jerry Abramson today joined Silicon River GeoDesigns LLC in unveiling the 2005 Louisville Metro “Tech Map.”

The second annual edition of the Tech Map showcases the emerging growth of Louisville’s technology community. This year, Tech Map participation grew to 62 companies and organizations, up from last year’s 54 companies.

The new Tech Map showcases a comprehensive breadth of technology firms from start-ups, small companies, medium companies, large enterprises, local government, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations all focused in technology advancement in information technology, life sciences, biosciences and healthcare segments.

“The Tech Map illustrates that Louisville is becoming a technology hub,” Abramson said. “Our economy’s technology sector continues to grow, helping position Louisville to compete in an ever-changing business environment.”

The Tech Map is compiled by Silicon River GeoDesigns, to help gain national recognition for the high-tech assets of the Louisville community.
“There is tremendous technology leadership in our region, and our area’s infrastructure resources allow for solid economic growth in this sector. We want to continue to help promote and educate all our constituents regionally and nationally about Louisville technologies with this unique marketing tool,” indicated Shawn Riedling, co-founder of Silicon River GeoDesigns.

Sponsors of the Tech Map include: Louisville Metro, Sullivan University, TeN (Technology Network of the Greater Louisville Region), and the iTRC (The University of Louisville’s Technology Resource Center).
Maps will be distributed through a variety of venues including participating companies, Metro Louisville government and premiere sponsors. For more information about the Tech Map, or to obtain a copy of the 2005 or the inaugural collectors’ edition 2004 calendar map, call 502-228-9053, or visit
