New Downtown Restaurant Gets METCO Loan
Monday March 31, 2008
Three local businesses, including a new downtown restaurant, have been awarded low-interest loans to help with expansion and property renovations.
The Metropolitan Business Development Corp. awarded the loans, totaling $167,213, last week at its monthly meeting.
“These companies help expand our economy and bring new services to all areas of the city,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said.
The approved loans were:
- JEB Investments, which is renovating a building at 1017 E. Broadway. A $17,213 loan will help the owner improve the façade with new doors, new paint and new trim work. Joseph Borsch is the majority owner of JEB Investments.
- Childcare University LLC, a start-up day-care company owned by Dionte Blevins, Marita Elliott and Shannon Sharp. The business will be located at 7813 Beulah Church Road in the Highview/Fern Creek area and will receive a $50,000 low-interest loan.
- Z’s Fusion, a restaurant opening at 115 S. Fourth Street, in the former Kunz’s Restaurant property. This white tablecloth restaurant will be operated by Mehrzad Sharbaiani, the same owner of Z’s Oyster Bar and Steakhouse in Hurstbourne. A $100,000 low-interest loan will help remodel the property.
