Downtown Housing Tour This Saturday

Monday October 19, 2009

Louisville’s downtown renaissance can be seen in luxury high-rise condos and chic urban lofts, historic renovations and stunning new architecture.

Those — and more — will be featured on this year’s Downtown Housing Tour, set for Saturday, Oct 24. The event, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

“The tour is a chance to peek inside some of the city’s most creative and unique homes and apartments,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said. “There’s something for everyone, from waterfront homes to urban lofts.”

More than 20 housing developments will be featured and trolleys will transport people between developments — or people can walk and drive on their own, said Deb Delor, interim president of the Louisville Downtown Management District.

“So much is happening downtown that it’s good to see it in person,” Delor said. “Even if you aren’t interested in moving downtown, the tour is a good way to get ideas for your own home.”

The housing tour, sponsored by the Louisville Downtown Management District, begins in the lobby of the Brown and Williamson Tower at Fourth Street Live. Free Parking is available at the Fourth Street Live Garage on Fifth Street. Booths featuring downtown developments and information about living downtown will be on display.
