Free WiFi Conference Space For Small Businesses

Wednesday March 7, 2012

Small businesses and start-ups now have a conference room with wi-fi that can be reserved in the Department of Economic Growth and Innovation’s offices downtown.

“I want to encourage our entrepreneurs and fledgling businesses to grow, and this is a way that the city can help,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “A professional setting is important when meeting with potential financiers, partners and clients to get a business off the ground.”

Located on the 6th floor of the Metro Development Center, at 444 S. 5th Street, the conference room is available Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9 a.m. to noon. Availability starts immediately on a trial basis. There is no charge for use, but reservations are required.

This new resource is part of the department’s move toward the availability of digital information, and making it easier to conduct business in a digital age. “Our department knows that startups and small businesses sometimes need simple meeting space and we value the opportunity to interact with these companies and increase their exposure to our staff and programs for growth,” said Ted Smith, director of the Department of Economic Growth and Innovation.

In order to reserve time for your business, go to, and look for the BookFresh calendar. Each appointment will receive a confirmation.
