City Releases RFP for Redevelopment of Colonial Gardens
Monday July 1, 2013
The city today released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to seek a developer for the Colonial Gardens property.
Interested developers can download a copy of the RFP and related Exhibits at www.louisvilleky.gov/economicdevelopment. The bid will be open until July 31.
“I believe Colonial Gardens has great potential and my economic development team is eager to market the property,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “With the proximity to the park and the Iroquois Amphitheatre, there is potential for a broader redevelopment strategy in the area.”
The site, a South End landmark near Iroquois Park, was purchased by the city for $430,000. Colonial Gardens has been closed and empty for years, and it was listed in 2012 as one of the 10 most endangered historic places in Louisville by Preservation Louisville.
