Families can once again ring in a new year together at the Mayor’s Family New Year’s Eve Party. It's an evening of free children’s activities, games, movies, music and bands at the Louisville Gardens on Dec. 31, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
It is the fourth year for the family-focused event, which has drawn nearly 10,000 people previously.
“We’ve found that the family-friendly alternative has been appealing to families who want to be together to celebrate New Year’s,” Abramson said. “This year we’re changing and adding to the mix of activities and entertainment to keep the event fresh for our guests,” Abramson said.
Norton Healthcare is the presenting sponsor of the city’s New Year’s Eve event.
“Norton Healthcare has a long history in this community, and as the region’s leading health care organization, we also have a strong commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of people who live and work in Louisville Metro,” said Russell F. Cox, chief operating officer of Norton Healthcare. “We are pleased to be a sponsor of the Mayor’s Family New Year's Eve Party and look forward to another year in partnership with Mayor Abramson and our fine city.”
At midnight, a giant balloon drop and confetti cannons will mark the beginning of 2007.
Radio Disney will provide much of the entertainment and activities for the evening, including:
- Several local bands and entertainer groups
- Inflatable rides and rock-wall climbing
- Teen room with games and music
- Quiet room with Disney movies for parents with younger children
- Complimentary New Year’s hats, beads and noisemakers, while supplies last
- CD and DVD prizes and giveaways throughout the night
- Concession food and drinks available for purchase
