Light Up Louisville and “40 Nights of Lights” Return
The city’s “Light Up Louisville” event – the traditional starting point for the holidays – returns for its 33rd year along with “40 Nights of Lights” a nightly array of lights and activities along four blocks of 4th Street, from the Galt House to Fourth Street Live.
Fall Trail Run Saturday at Jefferson Memorial Forest
The autumn colors at Jefferson Memorial Forest will provide the setting for the Fall Trail Run, a 5K event for runners and walkers Sat., Oct. 19 at 8 a.m. It will be the third of the four running races that are part of the KentuckyOne Health Four De Lis Classic Series.

Mayor Greg Fischer today announced the winners of Louisville’s first-ever photo contest which drew more than 700 images of the city and its people ranging from the waterfront to the suburbs, including famous icons and lesser known locations. Public, private and Catholic students who have excelled in and out of the classroom are being honored today by Mayor Greg Fischer as recipients of the annual Mayor’s Outstanding High School Seniors Award. Fischer will present the honor to 49 students this evening at 7:15 p.m., following a reception at Louisville Metro Hall.
