The Mechanical Division is responsible for monitoring heating installations in new and existing buildings to ensure that the work performed meet current codes and ordinance regulations.

Mechanical/HVAC Division Fees
Please use the following table to determine your permit fees. Check the "Equipment Type" column for the type of unit you are installing, then check the appropriate "Installation Type" column for the section of the fee schedule that applies to that unit. Below table is the table that applies to HVAC fees.

ONE-AND TWO-FAMILY RESIDENCES
- MULTI-UNIT RESIDENCES (3 OR MORE DWELLING UNITS):
- ALL STRUCTURES AND BUILDINGS OTHER THAN RESIDENCES:
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of HVAC equipment shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) for the first of each type of apparatus, plus an additional five dollars ($5.00) charged for each additional apparatus; one dollar ($1.00) shall also be charged for each duct opening. . (Note: there are no combination units in commercial. Heating and A/C are considered separate units.)
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of a range hood shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per appliance.
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of chiller shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per appliance.
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of a commercial dryer shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per appliance.
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of a roof-top unit shall be forty-five dollars ($45.00) per appliance.
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of solid fuel burning equipment shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per appliance.
- The permit fee charged for the installation, replacement or addition of mechanical refrigeration equipment shall be a flat fee based on the number of tons of rated output capacity or compressor horsepower, whichever is greater; or, in the case of hermetic absorption, steam or gas drivers or electronic or chemical reactor drives, the number of tons of equivalent electric motor drives rated horsepower units, according to the following schedule: Under 100 tons… $30.00; 100 to 500 tons $50.00; over 500 tons…$75.00. ADDITIONAL INSPECTIONS NOT COVERED BY THE INITIAL PERMIT FEE SHALL BE $15.00
The HVAC Contractor License fee is $125.00 and the HVAC Supervisors License is $75.00
