Procedural Change affecting all Building & Mechanical Contractors Inspection Requests.

Effective May 1, 2009

In an effort to improve the overall efficiency of the inspection process, we have combined our building & mechanical inspection divisions into one unit. By making this change we have created smaller assigned areas for our inspectors in an effort to streamline the inspection process by having one inspector inspect the building & mechanical permits together when practical as in the case of most new construction jobs by combining the mechanical rough inspection with the building framing inspection and then the final inspections.

Beginning May 1, 2009, all building & mechanical (building, fire detection, fire suppression, fireplace, HVAC, moving, parking lot, range hood, refrigeration, sign & wrecking) inspection requests will need to be directed to our customer service representative at (502) 574-4400 or you can email your inspection requests to iplinspections@louisvilleky.gov, a customer service representative will enter your requests into our computer system and it will automatically be forwarded to the assigned inspector. Mechanical Inspection requests can also be submitted through our online permitting site that is already available to you when your permit was obtained on line. We want to make requesting an inspection as simple and effective as we possibly can.

Please make a note that the following minimum information is required in order for us to process your inspection request:

Property address

Permit #

Contractor name

Contact name and phone number

Any additional information for inspectors (brief note)

We believe this change will streamline the inspection process and allow us to reach our goal of making inspections as soon as possible after we receive the request. By documenting the request dates we will be able to accurately see how we are doing in meeting our goal and your needs.

However, to be successful we need your help to succeed. So, please make sure your inspection requests contain all necessary information as listed above and the jobs are ready and accessible.
