The Great 9-1-1 Adventure™, a comprehensive classroom package includes a video, poster, presenter’s guide, activity sheet, emergency telephone card and stickers that address issues such as “how to dial 9-1-1,” “when to call,” and “what to say to a 9-1-1 dispatcher” for both landline and wireless telephones.
 
Twenty percent of all telephone calls to 9-1-1 are “abandoned” calls – hang-ups or silence, and many of these calls are made by children ages 4 to 7.  Every abandoned call that comes into the system must be traced by emergency personnel, which can take police, firefighters or EMS away from real emergencies.  The objective of The Great 9-1-1 Adventure™ is to decrease misuse of the emergency number, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of the 9-1-1 system.
