Louisville Housing Indicators
Below is a chart depicting both the number of Privately Owned Housing Starts and the number of New Private Housing Units Authorized in the Louisville MSA since January 2004.

The housing market is often considered an important bellweather for the economy. Housing starts and authorization peaked in the Louisville MSA in 2004, and steadily dropped until the end of 2008. This was the lowest both housing starts and authorizations had been since the Federal Reserve began the data series in 1988.
