Total Net Job Change by Sector
Below are the graphs showing the total net jobs lost or gain in the Louisville MSA since July 2007. Again, the sectors were split into Cyclical and Non-Cyclical sectors for clarity.
The Cyclical Sectors:

The Non-Cyclical Sectors:
(Click the graph above for a larger view.)
As can be seen in the graphs above, the only sectors in the Louisville MSA that have come out of the recession with positive net job growth are Education and Health Service and Government. Leisure and Hospitality, Information and Financial Activities had little net change in job numbers, and although Professional and Business Services was hit hard, the number of jobs in the sector is almost back to pre-recession levels. The sectors that have clearly been hit hardest by the recent recession are Construction, Natural Resources, and Mining, Trade, Transportation, and Utilities, and Manufacturing.
