Why Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?
Reducing, reusing, and recycling conserves landfill space, energy, and natural resources. The best way to conserve natural resources and help our environment is to reduce consumption of things we don't really need. For example, if you don't need a bag, don't take one. If you own a business, look for ways to reduce uncessary packaging materials. Our combined efforts can make a huge impact towards reducing waste!
Reusing materials is the second best option for limiting waste. Purchase reusable products and consider new uses for items you might otherwise throw away. For instance, a glass jar from the grocery could be reused as a drinking glass or container for snacks.
When you can't reduce or reuse, recycling is the way to go. Recyclable materials can be sold and made into new products. Typically, it takes a lot fewer resources to make a new product from recycled materials than starting from scratch.
Resource conservation has always been important and will be even more important in the future. Your decision to reduce, reuse, and recycle is critical to making our community and planet a better place to live both today and for future generations.
