Why recycle?
Recycling conserves landfill space, energy, and natural resources. Recyclables are easily marketed and find their way quickly into new, useable products. Recycling sparks a powerful cycle of events that saves our environment and makes our community a better place to live.
The next time anyone tells you they don't recycle because recyclables end up in the landfill anyway, don't believe it. Recycled materials are big business with new, innovative products coming on the market constantly.
Recycling is available to all Louisville Metro residents, either through Curbside Recycling collection or through Drop-off Recycling Locations. Many small cities provide curbside recycling collection. Private waste haulers are required by Metro Solid Waste Regulations to offer curbside recycling collection to any customers who request it.
Energy conservation and wise use of natural resources have always been important and will be even more important in the future. Your recyclables begin the process.
If you're not recycling, check out the information contained on this website under I Want to. . . and get started. If you already recycle, thanks, and keep up the good work!
Holiday Collection Schedule
There is no garbage collection on Metro Government holidays. When a holiday falls on a weekday, all collections for that day (garbage, yard waste, and recyclables) will be canceled and collected the following day. All collections for the remainder of the week are delayed for one day.
