Mayor's Memorial Day Hike & Bike
Monday May 28
Join Mayor Abramson and thousands of bikers and hikers as the 2007 Hike and Bike events kick off at Waterfront Park at 10 a.m. Memorial Day. The safe ride route will be going to Iroquois Park and back. Find out all about it.
Mayor First Camp Scholarship Program
Mayor Abramson recently announced the first ever camp scholarship program for kids! The camp scholarships, offered by the Louisville Metro Department of Housing and Family Services, will provide summer-camp opportunities for children between the ages of five and 18. Five hundred scholarships are available for parents. Each child can receive up to $400 in scholarships depending on income.

Summer Camps at Metro Parks
June 4 - July 27 for ages 6-12
This summer, children and teenagers can take part in day camps offered by Metro Parks in 19 different locations throughout Louisville. The options include eight weeks of day camps at 15 community centers and outreach sites, along with week-long camps offering hands-on activities emphasizing the historic Locust Grove home and lessons for beginning tennis players at the Louisville Tennis Center. A new six-week camp for teenagers will be offered at Baxter Community Center this year.

Summer Food Service Program for Children
The city will once again offer its award-winning Summer Food Service Program at more than 150 different locations throughout the community for children. Any child can participate regardless of family income. Summer lunch will begin Monday, June 4 and run through Friday, August 10.
Each site will serve a combination of breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. Lunches are free for all children under the age of 18. For a complete list of sites and meals available at the sites, visit www.louisvilleky.gov/cap or call MetroCall 311.
Last year, the city’s summer lunch program served more than 493,000 meals to 9,000 children at more than 170 sites. Find out more.

Music in the Metro The Mayor's Music in the Metro concert series is a free weekly concert showcasing our Metro Park and local musical talent throughout the community. Brightside/Coca-Cola Volleyball Tournament
Join us for the 18th Annual Brightside/Coca-Cola Volleyball Tournament. This popular tournament is set for Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22, 2007 at Seneca Park. Proceeds go to Brightside’s beautification and cleanup efforts.
We will have Grass Divisions for: Youth, Men, Women, Co-ed, and Corporate Teams, in addition to Sand Divisions. All teams except Doubles and Triples are guaranteed three matches.
